Fourth Grade

The fourth grade classroom is a fun and vibrant one in which students are continually challenged to grow and improve.  A variety of creative activities are used throughout the year to reinforce learning.

SCIENCE
Fourth grade students have the opportunity to spend an entire week exploring God’s nature at Lincoln Brick Park in the Spring.  They learn more about God’s creation connecting it to the science curriculum of fourth grade.

RELIGION
Genesis, Exodus, the four Gospels, Acts, Martin Luther and various part of the Lutheran Catechism, memory work.

MATH
Review and application of graphing, place value, addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, problem solving skills, and geometry.

Map skills, study of states and regions (history, geography, civics, economics, and related past and present events).

LANGUAGE ARTS

READING
Develop reading fluency and vocabulary through literature selections, poems and trade books.  Emphasis will be placed on using multiple strategies to construct meaning and recognize words.  Students are encouraged to participate in the Accelerated Reader program with self-selected reading.

SPELLING  Use of phonetic principles and spelling patterns to learn accurate spelling.

PHYSICAL SCIENCE  Solar system, oceans, weather, and the human body.
